Exciting revelations in my novel planning process and I need to get them out before i forget about them...I have a terrible memory more on that later... I think my novel will begin with a funeral (a common theme across some novels)...A father or uncle or someone close to the main character will have died and will have left a mission/mystery that the main character will want/have to solve in order to get their inheritance or something along those lines. But the best part is that it is a mystery surrounding something I have lots of knowledge of and can have a fun with, hockey lore. That's right a mystery surrounding hockey...bringing the screech owls back to the forefront.
I think it will be fun and I will be taking historical liberties which I don't mind it's my story and I can do what i want with it.
Some acknowledgments of ideas...From Katie's book of a character just needing to do something to change her/his life...jill's funeral idea (although I am not sure if I will include that yet)... and the mystery that was in Indigo's book

I went to the Screech Owls web site and am mystified....
ReplyDeleteI like your ideas! This is going to be such a fun month!
Yeah only a select few can remember reading those books as children. I remember Travis he was my favourite and Sarah.
ReplyDeleteI also was mystified by the site but think your novel sounds GREAT! Even though I know nothing about hockey, I know that you can do a lot with it. And I like the idea of the 'mission/mystery.' When I was writing, it gave me license to change it up occasionally and not have such a straightforward plot line.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, your favorite author has this to say about writing mysteries. Not all of his comments are really appropriate for NaNoWriMo, though - like 'know the whole story before you write'?!?!?!
