50,000k + It's Bittersweet

Had a hard time writing tonight. They weight of having to rewrite the first part of my book was a little depressing so I added something fun for myself. An exciting scene with Johnaton Toews and Patrick Kane. They are a couple of goofballs who play for Chicago. They are really great but also ridiculously young.

It was fun. But I am not done yet. Will Marcus be able to reveal Joe's secrets to the World or will something else happen? The suspense is building!

He met up with Toews after he was dressed and looked spiffy in his white suit which included a white belt. He actually wasn’t that spiffy but more pimp-like. When he saw Marcus he immediately pulled him aside.

“What the fuck you doing here man? Meeting me here you know how dangerous that is? We need to move fucking now.” Ice Veins poured his intense eyes into Marcus then turned to Patrick Kane who looked like he was still fifteen. “You Kaner get the Humvee fired up. We needed to get out of here ASAP.”

Patrick Kane dropped his video game. He love playing NHL ’10. Marcus probably would too if his face was on the cover of it. He rushed out the exit doors to the parking lot. Tazer grabbed at Marcus and pulled him down the corridor then he pushed roughly around the corner and broke into a run.

“Come on, move!” Toews pushed him and Marcus limped as fast as his busted leg could take him. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the three men who had tortured and beaten him break from the media scrum at a run. Toews dragged him along and forced him roughly into the Humvee that Kane was driving around.

He looked ridiculous driving that huge car when he was so small. Marcus stifled a laugh. Captain Serious aka Johnathon Toews wasn’t laughing.

“What the fuck were you thinking. Wasn’t your apartment getting burned enough of a lesson for you. You were fucking lucky that they didn’t grab you in Boston. The only reason they didn’t was because they wouldn’t get a chance to catch the Celtics.” Toews punched him. “Use your fucking head Lesage. Now we got to fucking do a lot more work to get this done.”

Marcus sat in silence. Even though the young man currently beratting him was several years his junior. He didn’t want to say a dman thing because he was absolutely right and you didn’t fuck with Captain Serious.

“Kaner, head to the subway entrance by the river. Then drive beyond that and try to lose them by the docks.”

Kane turned the down the street sharply and then stopped abruptly. Marcus was pushed out of the door by Toews and then hurried down the stairs to the subway. Marcus heard KAner take off and heard the screech of another car behind him.
“I swear to god Lesage if Kaner gets hurt because of you, your knees will be so fucked up you’ll be walking backwards.”

Tazer swiped two passes for the Subway and got them on a southbound train.
“Where are we going?” Marcus finally asked.

“Need to know basis Marcus. I hope you can handle that.” Toews stared him down. Marcus nodded he didn’t have a choice.

They were on the train for 17 minutes when Tazer got a text from Kane. He had lost them. Perfect. After two more stops they got off the train. Marcus didn’t know where they were. Toews rushed him around They scurried to where Marcus thought was close to the docks but couldn’t be sure.

Finally after two minutes of hurrying they came to a stop. Marcus looked up. In the darkness he could still see the building that Toews had brought him to. Wrigley Stadium in all of its winter glory was before him.

Marcus affectionately had nicknamed the building the Stadium of Losers. They hadn’t won a championship in god knows how long. Over 90 years at least.

Toews brought them into the outfield wall. He pulled out a key that he had apparently received from the city and opened a secret back gate.

“Now Marcus I swear to god if you didn’t bring the key I will fucking kill you.” Toews gave him that glare again. He was an angry young man.

Sometimes it was difficult to take Toews seriously. His boyish grin was certainly not what you would expect from a great sports leader.

Marcus pulled the key from around his neck and showed it to Toews who nodded. “Let’s go then.” The walked inside the outfield way till they came to the end of the line. There was a locker sitting there.

“How did Joe know this was here?” Marcus asked.

Toews shrugged. “He never told me how just where. You’ll find what you are looking for in there.”

Marcus inserted the key into the locker and opened the door. What was before him was certainly nothing like what was in the Boobie Mansion. It was much much more respectable.

  1. What an unbelievable drag that you have to re-write. Luckily you have some excerpts you can use from your blog.

I think that you may be this year's winner of the award for "most spirit" and also "use of swear words to bolster word count."

    congrats on passing 50,000 words!

  2. That completely sucks. I can't imagine having to rewrite. After all Marcus has been through, for you to have to write it again!!?!?!

I'm loving the madcap adventures your characters get into. Here's hoping you find the ending soon (today?) and can get back to real life... aka, recovering the 30,000 words or so you lost. :(
