Computer is still MIA!

But I am still writing. I haven't got to the boo-bie mansion like I had hoped. The scene at the funeral home took longer than I had thought but it was pretty amusing at least to me.

I still haven't gotten a good grip on Jack Connolly but at least he's amusing. He stole Marcus' book which led to a confrontation where Jack revealed he was working for the Russians as a double agent. But not the Russians you would expect. He was working for a Russian Mennonite Church. His task to infiltrate the Pennslyvania Dutch Mennonites.

It was weird and bizarre but Marcus had good laugh. Then my novel introduced two things I swore I never would introduce: the Sons of Ipswitch and Martha Stewart crafts. Here's an excerpt from Jack and Marcus looking for Marcus' stolen car. Pardon the miserable grammer.

Marcus headed back to the funeral home. It was still chilly but he was warm enough with his jacket on. He met Jack on the way back. He was just walking aimlessly around and yet as if he had a purpose. Marcus heard him mumble, “they were here, just waiting outside in a Ford Escape.”

“Jack, Jack whats up who was here and were they in my car?” Marcus asked him.

Jack nodded his head. “Fraid so. Marcus, it appears that the Sons of Ipswitch have stolen your vechile.”

Marcus shook his head, great the fucking Sons of Ipswitch. What else can go wrong here? “Well do you know where they went?”

Jack pointed down the street. “That way.” He waved his hand. “Come on, follow me.” Jack led the way with more confidence than Marcus had ever seen him walk with. He looked strong, military, comfortable. It was unsettling. Perhaps he had misjudged Jack.

Jack crouched low through the ditch as if trying to avoid detection. Marcus with some strain on his knee followed suit. He was thankful that Jack did not have them running anywhere.

It was pretty dark out by now and Marcus had been hoping to visit his real grandparents tonight but he wasn’t sure that that was in the cards.

Jack raised his hand indicating to Marcus to stop. Marcus whispered, “What’s up Jack?” He couldn’t see much, an unseasonable fog had rolled in.

“Trouble.” Jack said then he shushed Marcus and motioned for him to be quiet. The mist had come out of nowhere, it made Marcus a little nervous.
Jack muttered nonsense words under his breath and pulled out a gun…or was it a wand? He waved it towards the mist. It slowly drifted away from them.

Marcus could see for shadows on the far side of the road. There was flashing red lights with yellow and green flashes as well. Marcus made a move forward. Jack held him back. “Let me.” Jacks eyes had turned black and his face had darkened considerably. Marcus would have been afraid if he hadn’t met the earlier, goofy Jack.
Jack pulled his…weapon out and headed towards the four. The mist reconfigured upon Marcus and he lost sight of the four figures and Jack. It was quiet for a split second before bangs, like guns firing but silenced and crashes echoed in the background. Marcus stayed in the ditch listening.

Explosions, gun shots, screams. What is going on there? Why does it sound like a cat is dying? Marcus wanted to go explore. He got up out of the ditch and headed to where the noises were coming from. Very suddenly the noises stopped. There was nothing but an eerie silence that hung over the air. It was definitely creepy.

The mist began to disperse once again and Marcus looked furiously for the shadows and lights he had seen earlier. Nothing. Where did they all go?

He was about to give up looking when he saw two lights bright lights in the other direction heading towards him. They were ghostly lights. They were getting brighter and brighter. The fog was still thick that he didn’t know what to expect.
He heard the soft hum of an engine too. The lights were getting closer and closer, then they stopped. Marcus headed towards them like a bug. He began to make out the shape of a car. His car. The driver’s door open. A large bulky fellow got out.
Before Marcus could see the person he heard the voice. “Son of a bitch. What the Fuck are you doing out here Lesage?”

Ahh Fuck thought Marcus.

  2. so, so good. I love the way you took ingredients from many different sources (24, Harry Potter, the Covenant, other people's novels) and stirred them up into something of your own. Jack has magical powers! Awesome.

  3. I chuckled about the Ford Escape...why does Marcus have an Escape, again? Is he trying to change his image?
